The Transitional Housing Placement Plus Foster Care (THP+FC) Program is a foster care placement for youth ages 18-21 (non-minor dependents) who are participating in extended foster care (AB 12). THP+FC provides housing and supportive services, such as case management and vocational training. For more information about AB 12 and extended foster care, click HERE.
The Transitional Housing Placement Plus (THP-Plus) Program provides up to 24 months of affordable housing and supportive services, such as case management and vocational training to youth who have exited from the foster care and juvenile probation systems, ages 18-24. In some counties, THP-Plus is available to youth enrolled in school up to age 25 - more info HERE.

 

There are THP+FC programs in most counties in California. To find a program in your area:

1. Download the THP+FC Provider Roster and scroll down to your county.

2. Contact your social worker or probation officer and notify them that you are interested in the THP+FC placement.

3. You can also contact the THP+FC program on the roster directly to learn more about the program.

There are THP-Plus programs in most counties in California. To find a program in your area:

1. Download the THP-Plus Provider Roster and scroll down to your county.

2. Contact the program (or programs) directly for more information.

3. The program contact listed on the roster for each program can provide you with information about eligibility and next steps.

Some examples of questions to ask THP-Plus programs you call are:
What sort of services does your program provide?
Does your program cater to a specific population (males, females, parenting youth, etc.)
Are there work or school requirements in order to participate in your program?
What is the typical amount of rent and utilities participants are expected to pay?
Does your program have a savings plan for participants?
Do participants live with a roommate?
What is your application process?
Is there a waiting list for your program or do you have open beds available?
